The Earth Remembers

Beneath the pavement, beneath the noise, beneath the forgetting — the earth remembers what it means to be whole.

There is a quiet intelligence in soil. A patience in roots. A generosity in rain that asks nothing in return. When we speak of stewardship, we do not mean management. We mean relationship.

The land does not need us to save it. It needs us to stop harming it. And then, with humility, to participate in its restoration — not as masters, but as students.

Every garden planted, every stream protected, every animal given sanctuary is an act of remembrance. We are remembering that we belong to the earth, not the other way around.

This is the work of the Earth & Living Systems sanctuary: to tend what has been entrusted, and to teach by example that care is not weakness — it is the highest form of strength.
